My Parents Cruising in the '60s

Secret Lives of the Grown Ups ('40s,'50s and '60s)

I don't remember exactly what triggered it - it may have been a photo or unexpectedly catching them in an embrace - I'm not sure, but the first time I realized that my parents were something more than just my parents was a startling event. These are some photos that celebrate some brief periods of respite from being mommy and daddy that our parents enjoyed after we were tucked in bed.

Betty Serves the Black-Eyed Peas On New Year's Eve, 1967

A New Year's tradition said to ensure good luck in the coming year. NYE, '67. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but you gotta have hope. Submitted to the Vintage Photos Theme Park for the theme, HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS - Any kind of end-of-year holiday gathering, celebration, or decoration. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and a Joy-filled New Year to all.

Mom and Dad out on the town in the Vintage Photos Theme Park, about 1955.

My favorite photo of them. They look like they're having such fun.
