Changing Face of Noccalula Falls
A 90 foot high falls on Black Creek in Gadsden, Alabama that can go from virtually dry in the hot summer time to a raging torrent after a
very high rainfall such as happened this past weekend when tropical storm Lee passed through (top photo). The rain gauge at my house which is about 8 miles from the falls registered just shy of nine inches.

On Black Creek, Gadsden, Alabama, this 90 foot falls is named after a supposed Indian legend about an Indian Princess, Noccalula, who threw herself into the gorge because she was being forced to marry a chief instead of the one she really loved. (noc 9v 013104)
