Description | Aka toe-biter because underwater they will stab a toe if it threatens them. Also aka electric light bug because they hang around light at night. While they look like a cockroach they are not even related. They livemostly submerged in shallow fresh water ponds and pools Rather than a giant waterbug, this may be an Eastern toe-biter. They closely resemble each other. I suspect this one was attracted to lights outside the fast food restaurant where it died. Gadsden, Alabamas (IMG_0869) |
