The people on the platform were, I am fairly sure, from a mountain rescue team, that had gone to help a man, who had been climbing the mountain on foot. He had become unwell, headed for the railway, as a way to get assistance and collapsed on or near the track. Our train was held below the Summit Station for quite a while as he was given first aid. An Air-sea Rescue Sea King helicopter then arrived from RAF Valley and he was airlifted off Snowdon. We later learnt, as we got back to our coach at Llanberis Station, that he had not survived, dying where he collapsed, at the summit.
