While the South Downs National Park generally stops at the borders of urban areas, picturesque Lewes, filled with attractive old buildings such as this corner shop, stands proudly on a hill above the valley of the Sussex Ouse, within the Park.
This handsome building now seems to have been converted into flats or apartments. It was the chimneys that caught my eye, as I walked along the sea front.

These two photographs were taken while the endless wrangling over the power station's future was going on. These were the original chimneys that were essential parts of the building's 'Listed' status. When the reconstruction was being planned they were deemed to be unfit for continued use. The current ones are reproductions.
