This is the back of a photographic portrait of Miss Crook. It is among a group of portraits and other material which relate to Fanny Sutters, nee Ivins, who came from the small village of English Bicknor in Gloucestershire. To date Miss Crook's relationship to Fanny is unknown.

I have just realized that the photographers on all these folders are women. I know that my mother's mother and her aunts all seemed to take it in turn behind the lens, so I wonder if the processors chose the folders accordingly, or was this an advertising ploy using attractive women to plug the product.
The negative must have had some damage as the print had black and white areas on the left of this shot.I have rebuilt the left side of the dog's tripod and patched up the lower parts of the dog.
I don't know when this was taken, but judging by Percy's appearance I guess it is just before WW2.

This studio is at the back of Edward Reeves shop, which, as a participant in Lewes Heritage Open Days weekend, held an exhibition of photographs taken in the studio and out, in and around Lewes by several generations of the family. It is believed that, having been established in about 1855, it is the world's oldest still existing photographic business.
