Portsmouth & Southsea coastal defences

Most of the photos in this album were taken on a walk between Southsea Castle and the Round Tower which is at the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour on 11.7.2019.Those from the Isle of Wight ferry were taken the previous year. They are part of a personal project recording the existing fortifications along the south coast, eastwards from Portsmouth. It is hoped to go as far as Richborough, near Ramsgate in east Kent. If completed, it could form the basis for one of our local church's fund-raising lectures.
Much of the information has been obtained from booklets in the series 'Solent Papers' and 'The Portsmouth Papers', which were bought from the shop at Southsea Castle.
