The original of this photograph, collected by H.T.Sutters, early in the 20th century, has been donated to the Isle of Wight Record Office, in Newport.
If the location is not correct, please let me know and I will correct it. Indeed if the date of the photo is known I will make that more accurate than 'circa 1900'.
This is the church on which the 00 scale model kit was based - initially by Airfix and more recently by Dapol

This group of photographs of Eastbourne and the surrounding area is also from my grandfather, H.T.Sutters' collection of prints from the late 1800s. The originals have been given to the Eastbourne Local History Society.
If the figures at the end of the text at the bottom of the photo are a date - it looks like 21.9.68 - then this photo was taken at the height of Eastbourne's development as a seaside resort.

A scan of an old black & white print from my Grandfather's collection. The originals have been presented to the local records office for North Devon. The white spot near the centre of the photo is a hole made by a woodworm. They had eaten their way through one batch of the prints, with anything upto ten holes in each print. When scanning them for my archive, I managed to clone out the holes, in most cases, but must have missed this one.

Rhenish Tower - Lynmouth. was originally built in the late 1850s by General Rawdon to store salt water to supply his house with sea baths. A light was later added as a beacon for local shipping. The current building is an exact replica, as the original, seen above, was destroyed in the disastrous floods in 1952

Some of these old prints have masses of detail in them.If the contrast is reduced and perhaps a little sharpening applied, they can reveal a lot more. As I have over 100 on file I do not intend to enhance them all. If there is one that has particular significance, flag it up and I will see what improvements can be made.

The location on the map is pure guesswork. If you know the area please let me know if it is right or wrong, or whether it has been eroded away.,
