Many thanks, Carol. Our shingle beach is mainly comprised of pebbles from an inch to several inches across, but there are patches of smaller stones, gravel-sized, and a few grainy sandy spots. It is on the smaller sized shingle that shells crop up, but they are not there in large quantities. When I am out snapping sunsets I round up a few and this was among a recent batch.
