Phil Sutters club has replied to Dave Roberts 2014I don't think your polarising filter has overdone it at all. In any case, it won't have had too much polarising effect with the sun in the shot. The maximum sky polarisation occurs at an angle of around 90° from the sun. When the sun is in the shot, like this one, the polarising filter acts more like a neutral density filter, which is no bad thing here.
