It's pleasing when something works out as well as this. My computer has plenty of also-rans and the re-cycle bin has to be cleared regularly!

It's all down to a couple of Photoshop Elements effects and filters. The 'glass button' effect gives the glossy rounded look to the various little parts but the thing that gives the whole thing its shape is the 'Distort' menu's 'Polar coordinates' filter. It takes a horizontal pattern and wraps it round into a circular shape. There is often work to be done where the two ends meet at the top, but it is magical how, what was a pattern of blue & red diamond shapes, ends up like this.
