Although I did not hear the story of this arrival at Oxford, it looked as though the DMU had failed; 47425 had gone to the rescue, with a barrier coach, but had failed itself and had to be rescued by diesel shunter 08507.
'Duffs' are the nickname of British Railways class 47 locomotives.
