I hadn't spotted the unhappy baby. Didn't we have a theme with someone looking unhappy?

I'm surprised that they were able to get the little dog to stand like that long enough to snap the picture!

(P.S. SOMEONE IS NOT HAPPY - Pouting, scowling, etc.--a theme from last October!)

Phil, would this have been a photo your ancestor made? I find it surprising that a sergeant would be permitted to have his family accompany him on an overseas tour. I have to assume these assignments must have been quite lengthy.

In the colonial days the British garrisons were very extensive communities in some places. If you look at the histories of the Indian and South African colonies and the conflicts within them, you will find many accounts of families of servicemen and colonial officials caught up in battles, sieges and massacres. On a lighter note they seem to have had fun at times - www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/26369383/in/album/1205816
