Meteor break-up?

While observing Mercury, I was lucky enough to shoot this contiguous sequence of three pictures which appear to show a meteor breaking in two. I certainly thought it was a meteor (or space junk) on the camera view screen. (The bright object is Mercury.) Taken with camera on tracking mount. Taken 51 minutes after sunset, F/8, 1/25 s, ISO 800.
