After being destroyed in WWII it was restored in the 50’s and endowed with elaborate stained-glass windows designed by Georg Meistermann. The sarcophagi of the last princes of Saarbrücken are to be found in the choir. The church is now a museum of the "Stiftung Saarländischer Kulturbesitz" (Foundation for the Cultural Heritage of the Saarland).

Völklinger Hütte, a former ironworks, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994 thanks to its authentically preserved ironworks.
One look at Völklinger ironworks, and you will feel as if you have come to a science fiction studio setup. Visitors can stroll along a 5,000 metre walkway past the huge machinery and furnaces of the early 20th century. There’s also a science centre on site.
