Folder: Lake District
First day in the lakes and a walk up the local mountain - the Old Man. Weather was perfect, possibly even a bit too warm!
The views were a little hazy though.

Coppermine cable
After about an hour's walking from Coniston, you pass through the abandoned quarry workings.
Path through the old quarry
The old cable is a minor obstacle on the path
Slate view of Coniston Water
It's worth stopping at the old quarry to admire the great views back towards Coniston Water
Low Water
The tarn is at about 560 metres, so I've already ascended more than 500 metres (but the toughest part is about to start)
The path from Low Water
It's a steep zig-zag path from Low Water up to the summit of the Old Man.
Levers Water is just in sight as well
Old Man trig point
This confirms the height at the summit of the Old Man of Coniston as 803 metres
