Ulverston
Folder: Lake District
In the South Lakeland district of Cumbria. I paid a brief visit, and had enough time to walk up to Hoad Hill (site of the Sir John Barrow Monument) to take in the views across the Southern Lakes and over the Leven estuary. The town's not actually in the National Park, but I'm not bothering myself with that too much.
Stan in his hat
I found this on the side of the Laurel and Hardy Museum, the former Roxy cinema

Sir John Barrow Monument
The monument is 100 feet tall, modelled on the Eddystone Lighthouse.
Sir John Barrow was born in Ulverston and was a founder member of the Royal Geographical Society, amongst various claims to fame.
East from Hoad Hill
Somewhere over there is Cartmel and you can see the railway viaduct over the River Leven estuary
