Weber Ave. sub site

Dunno if anyone still visits this stream, but here's a pic of the Weber Ave. substation site as it is now.

Xcel Energy - Turner County, SD

A replacement transposition structure on the Lennox to Centerville line - one of the very last 69kV lines on the system with transpositions. The transpositions are among the very last poles on the line that still have crossarms, as almost all of the poles have been retrofitted with large armless posts like the other two. This line is old enough that the company is thinking about an eventual rebuild, and has already replaced the first segment out of Lennox.

The old transformer pole at Raymond still stands, along with its crossarm-mounted bank (I'd bet the three cans are GE units).

Xcel Energy - Pipestone, MN

Part of a weird structure added to reroute a line coming into the area. The lines going left all end in a downguy pole.

A recent picture of the South Sioux sub. Sure looks different without the 4160V wing and the shrubs that once stood along the fence.

The 'Rosefield' 23.9kV / 7200V substation in the sunset of its life. It was replaced by a pole-mounted stepdown in 2021.

A close view of the ancient GE fluted can. Definitely a museum piece! I strongly suspect it's the same style as the one Mike Parker photographed many decades ago: www.ipernity.com/doc/ndlinegeek/48627488
