Aristides de Sousa Mendes, également connu sous le nom d'Aristides de Sousa Mendes do Amaral e Abranches, (19 juillet 1885 - 3 avril 1954) est un diplomate portugais du xxe siècle. En poste à Bordeaux lors de la débâcle française de 1940, il refuse de suivre les ordres du gouvernement portugais de Salazar et délivre sans distinction plusieurs milliers de visas aux personnes menacées souhaitant fuir la France.

Il sera déclaré « Juste parmi les nations » en 1966, puis réhabilité par la République portugaise le 15 novembre 1986. (Wikipedia)

I don't think he was known here. Each year, there is a mural festival in Montreal in june. That is where it was made. There is also a mural for Amalia Rodrigues. Both were probably made by a portuguese artist, maybe the same. Next week, it will be her.
