Beautiful - where does this type of tiling originate? It reminds me of arabic patterns... Did the spaniards bring that or was there a local type of tiles?

I don't know a lot about the tile, but this might be Talavera tile, which is similar to majolica pottery that came from Spain to Mexico (so arabic influences would make sense). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talavera_%28pottery%29
