Originally a Huguenot neighborhood, then Jewish, now South Asian. The shuttered windows are typical of the houses of Huguenot silk weavers' who settled here in the early 18th century.

Used in dozens of movies and television programmes, including Luther (Series 2).

I'll try to find more info about other films in which it appears. I would have loved to have seen the documentary about the area. Unfortunately, I can't get any of the BBC documentaries via iPlayer here because of content restrictions.
