En fait c'est un gouffre de plus de 300 mètres de profondeur , record établi en août 1985 à l'aide d'un petit sous-marin téléguidé équipé de moyen vidéo (documentation du guide vert Michelin) Malgré les recherches on ne sait pas d'ou vient la rivière souterraine qui alimente le gouffre .
