Many thanks Marta very interesting , I had wondered if it was up near the Baltic on the coast there, due to the sand .

Those sand mounds are typical for central Poland, particularly Masovian, where I live.
They are post-glacial and they are usually covered with pine forests. Very dry and effectively great for burials. This one had been too, before Germans cut down all the trees and demolished the cemetery during World War II. So now it is a dune in the middle of Karczew.

Almost the whole Jewish community of Karczew was taken away and murdered in the Treblinka extermination camp.
Never Again (is Now)
Only the oldest of their neighbors (who were little kids then) remember them, but memories are fading...
