Here is the original color version of this shot:



I found the colors rather dull so I converted it to B&W using an emulation of a green filter. Was I right to do it?

The B&W is almost like a scene by moonlight--very tranquil with an almost magical quality. I wonder what it would be like using B&W film?

The moonlight flavor comes from a software green filter, I think :)
I took some shots with my Olympus XA and Ilford XP2 set., too
I haven't scanned them yet.
But I do not expect any revelation there...

I like the color version ( and I tend to like muted colors ) but I prefer the black and white version because it enhances the reflected light on the water and also the sky. I think a real green filter would have left more tone separation where the yellow is in the background, this reminds me more of a yellow green 11 filter. The sky was not quite as nice during the XP2 exposure IMO, so I have no preference!

What I used was not the pure green channel, but something more warm, making it a yellow green indeed :)
