There is a city

My uncle who is now 96, did 3 missions to Warsaw dropping weapons to the Home Army in September 1944 before the missions were cancelled due to high casualties.He was in the RAF's 205 Group flying in Liberators, one of the few aircraft with range to reach Warsaw from Foggia in Italy. The route in took them over the current airport at Krakow which was a German night fighter training base at the time and led to several losses in that area as well as from Flak over Warsaw.

I wondered if you had passed my "thank you" to your uncle and if he was / is still with us.
Now of all the days, today evening you are telling me that he is 96 old, so my unasked question is miraculously answered! I do not how how you did this - reading my mind!
Once again... big THANK YOU to your uncle and all other heroic airman who helped fighting Warsaw. Their great courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten by Polish people.

I hadn't realised I had already told you Marta! So I'm sorry for repeating myself? But yes I have passed your thanks and also those of other Polish people who said the same. He is still going strong and only about 3 years ago he passed on to me his old camera gear as he doesn't use it now. I still use a couple of his Pentax lenses and I passed on the rest of his gear, Nixon and Praktica to other photographers that I knew would use them. The fact the Praktica stuff went all the way to Indonesia pleased him no end!
