This figure of Madonna stands on a private property at a small village south of Warsaw.
It was brought there by a family of refugees from the Wola massacre during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944.
Historians estimate that 40,000-50,000 people were killed there. The figure was killed too. One can still see holes made by bullets. One bullet made through the heart of Madonna.

It is sad but is a piece of history.
Józef Piłsudski, Polish head of state (pre World War II) said:
"Who does not respect and value his past, he is not worthy of respect, present or future rights to".
So now two fine old ladies who live in the nearby cottage tell the story of the statue to everybody who listens :)
