Eine Stadt verkauft ihre Seele (000°) PiP - hFF

DE: Das denkmalgeschützte (!) neoklassizistische Gebäude der Alten Börse (zuletzt Commerzbank) wird abgerissen und durch zwei seelenlose Neubauten ersetzt. Genau hier am Nikolaifleet ist der historische Kern der Stadt, rechts die Altstadt und links die Neustadt, verbunden durch die Trostbrücke im Hintergrund. Das schöne Ensemble aus drei Gebäuden aus verschiedenen Perioden der Stadtentwicklung ist unwiederbringlich verloren. Auch vor dem Hintergrund, dass in Hamburg viele historische Gebäude dem Bombenkrieg zum Opfer gefallen sind, eine Tragödie. Hier hat mal alles gestimmt. Siehe PIPs

Ich war entsetzt, als ich das vor ein paar Tagen sah. Warum hat die Stadt das nicht verhindert? Hat sie nicht ein Vorkaufsrecht? Ging da nicht zumindest eine Rettung der Fassade? Da bestätigt es sich mal wieder: Freie und Abrissstadt Hamburg

EN: The listed (!) neoclassical building Alte Börse (Old Stock Exchange, lately Commerzbank) is being demolished and replaced by two soulless new buildings. Right here on Nikolaifleet is the historical core of the city, with the Altstadt (old town) on the right and the Neustadt (new town) on the left, connected by the Trostbrücke in the background. The beautiful ensemble of three buildings from different periods of urban development is irretrievably lost forever. This is also a tragedy in view of the fact that many historic buildings in Hamburg fell victim to the bombing raids of WW2. Everything used to be just right here. See PIPs

I was horrified when I saw this a few days ago. Why didn't the city prevent this? Doesn't it have a right of first refusal? Wasn't it at least possible to save the façade?

What a blunder!
