Die alte Harburger Elbbrücke wurde am 30. September 1899 eröffnet. Die damals für Straßenfahrzeuge gebaute 474 m lange Stahlbogenbrücke war die erste Straßenbrücke über die Süderelbe und dient heute nur Fußgängern und Radfahrern. Die aus Sandstein errichteten Portale sind von Hubert Stier entworfen und sollen mit den Wilhelmsburger und Harburger Wappen an Stadttore erinnern. Sie waren früher mit dem Reichsadler verziert.
