This is amazing - RAW Upload

This is amazing - RAW Upload
Tomas Kohout posted an article regarding the direct upload of RAW images. I had to test this immediately. Amazing, it works just as uploading a jpg. This is right out of the box off my EOS 70D (CR2 format). The original file is about 27MB. It looks somewhat darker than displayed with Zoner or Lightroom and for some reason I cannot share it!

Downloading the image from Ipernity recovers the original RAW file in full reslution and - amazingly - not as dark as displayed on my screen but the same as initially displayed in Lightroom. Im my case the filename is "This is amazing - RAW Upload.cr2".

Very interesting test, Lutz. I'm afraid I'm still a jpg person, with the camera I have, but it's nice to have the comparison to see what "real photographers" are talking about.

Hi Diane, sooner or later we all take the route towards RAW, because you add almost incredible flexibility to your images. My cam is set to RAW in full resolutiion with a small .jpg just for quick checking. If your camera supports RAW, start shooting RAW now in addition to your jpg, even if you don't process them now. In two years time or so, you may be sorry, that you did not save the RAW images as well. Happened to me! To my regret all my old stuff is jpg only.

Thanks for the stars and greetings, Lutz
