Denn die "Diebe" verlangen Lösegeld in der Form von Bierfässern für die Auslösung eines gestohlenen Maibaumes und die Bewacher haben den Spott. Die ca. 35 Meter langen Bäume werden am 1. Mai zumeist noch mit Muskelkraft und Stangen aufgestellt. Ab einem diagonalen Aufstell-Winkel von 45 Grad schiebt es sich leichter.
