Each of the rooms in the Hotel Palladio, overlooking the beach in the resort town of Giardini-Naxos, on Sicily, is entirely unique. My room was this magenta shade, with a huge antique armoire (not pictured), and a terrace, which would have been nice to look out onto the beach in warmer weather.
Check out the bathroom. I think that was my favorite part of this room.
These photos aren't the best quality because they were taken with a throw-away digital from CVS since I was shooting slides in my regular Canon Rebel 35mm.

The Hotel Palladio in Giardini-Naxos in Sicily was unique: each room featuring a different color and kind of decor.
I loved the wild tiles in this bathroom. I've never seen one quite like this in a hotel before.

Giardini Naxos, 50 kilometres from Messina, is the most ancient of Sicilian Greek colonies. Founded by Chalcidians in 734 BC, who successively expanded into other areas of Sicily, today it is a renowned tourism resort.
This photo was taken during the off-season, but in the summer, the water is a vibrant blue and the beach is crowded with tourists from France, Germany, and other European countries. You can see some of the volcanic rocks (since Giardini-Naxos is located fairly close to Mt. Etna), and the water slide, in the distance.

In 1995, I stayed at the Hotel Alexander, when it only a few years old. Granted, it was closed for the winter season in March 2005, when I took this photograph, and much of the surrounding area has been built up within the last 10 years, but it looks like time hasn't been so kind to the hotel. Or, maybe, it was in the process of being renovated? Note the condition of the gable in this picture vs. that shown on the link posted above.
I hope renovation was the case because the owners, in 1995, were especially kind.

Giardini Naxos is a comune in Messina province on the island of Sicily in Italy. Today it is a popular seaside-resort.
Founded by Thucles the Chalcidian in 734 BCE, it was never a powerful city, but its temple of Apollo Archegetes, protecting deity of all the Greek colonies, gave it prominence in religious affairs. Leontini and Catania were both colonized from here. Hippocrates, tyrant of Gela, captured it in 494 BCE. Its opposition to Syracuse ultimately led to its capture and destruction in 403 BCE at the hands of Dionysius the tyrant, after it had supported Athens during that city's disastrous Sicilian Expedition. Though the site continued to be inhabited, most activity shifted to neighbouring Tauromenium.
Today Giardini Naxos is a successful tourist destination. It is known for it's beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea. It has a small, but prosperous fishing port. There are many hotels and restaurants and the town is ten minutes away from another of Sicily's most important tourist destinations Taormina.

The building of the church started in 1963 in the neighbourhood of St. Giovanni. It was opened in April 1968. Inside there are valuable majolica bass-reliefs. It has a characteristic shape, like a cone, that makes it visible from a very far distance.
