Mahisasuramardini

This sculpture illustrates a famous Hindu myth wherein the goddess Durga kills a powerful demon in the form of a buffalo. Here the narrative is frozen at its most dynamic and tense moment, when Durga deals the final triumphant stroke with her trident.
