wasps on nest
this nest got quite busy and a lot bigger as last summer wore on. I don't think they'll come back. I've been told that by leaving the old nest in place it would discourage new wasps. we'll see...

Really nice image of this paper wasp nest with lots of activity! We get them all over the eaves of our house and actually have to spray them because if not, there are literally hundreds upon hundreds of wasps everywhere. Bad news. Happily you don't have so many that you could study this nest instead of grabbing a can of wasp spray! :D
