That can't be ivy - it would have leaves etc on it, or else it IS ivy and it's a dead plant. It does give a fantastic pattern though on that wall.

I'm not 110% sure but I think this is a Virginia Creeper, which has green leaves in the summer which turn red in Autumn and then die and fall off in winter. I won't know for definite until the leaves grow back.
