No, I don't think it's a California Poppy species...take a look at the leaves on your flower's stem.

I can see why you wonder if it's a kind of California Poppy, it does look a lot like it. I wondered if its a like of Mallow but the leaves are wrong, unless there's a species with long narrow leaves...Rhexia seemed possible but the flowers aren't right. I'm really not sure! It's maddening!

Anyway, maybe try a flower ID site, you may find it that way! Good luck and have a great day!
