"... and now for something completely different"

I've been a radio listener all my life; shortwave radio has always been one
of the things I listen to. And, since I was a kid, I have always wanted to
learn about the guts of radios, especially old ones. Now that I'm retired,
I have time to do that. So I bought a cheap, broken sixty-year-old radio,
and have started to figure it out. When I took this picture, I was
lubricating the volume control; I have lots more to do (including making
that volume control operate).
For other radio geeks, it's a four-tube Südfunk mw + two sw bands set.
Probably early 1950s.
