Nikon V2: September 2014
I've replaced my Nikon 1 V1 with a V2. I'll be stuffing pix into this folder for a few days, while I figure out the controls. After that the camera will doubtless just become part of my normal workflow.
Abandoned Barn
This barn's one of my regular photographic subjects , as is the badly-deteriorated house next door. Thought I'd see what my new camera thought of it.
Diner
The entrance to Farmer's Tavern (or Steak House), Mulliken, Michigan's, downtown restaurant.
Chemistry Building
Waldo Library
Waldo used to be a big green box....
Visited the WMU campus today intending to get a photo of this building. But not this photo.
I rather like this view, though.
Sprau Tower
When I was attending Western Michigan University these buildings were new and the school wanted everyone to think the west campus looked like this.
These days, not so much....
Sculpture
On the Campus of Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. I can find neither the name nor the artist, but it's quite a striking work--and a remarkable piece of engineering.
Three Figures
By Carol Harrison, in front of the Dalton Center (the fine arts building) at Western Michigan University. This was the only sculpture I saw yesterday I'd seen before, as it's been a campus fixture for decades.
Wonder Wood
By Charlie Brouwer, on the campus of Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. This is a delightful work; photographs really cannot do it justice.
The Professor
By Dennis Smith, in front of the Chemistry Building at Western Michigan University. My favorite of the sculptures I encountered in my little walk around the campus.
Much to my surprise, several students went out of their way to avoid interfering while I was setting up this photo. I've grown quite accustomed to folks just walking through my frame....
Nine Sandhill Cranes
South of Delton, Michigan.
Actually there were more like a hundred cranes in this field. Autumn's coming, and the flocks are gathering....
Kalamazoo's Building a Courthouse
Barn, with Sky
This barn and shed are on the grounds of the Gilmore Car Museum , north of Gull Lake and west of Hickory Corners, Michigan.
In my memory the farm was more farm than museum, and (as you can see) they're still farming the land which isn't part of the exhibit space.
The Return of the Sunflower
One Sunflower .
Here, again, is the sunflower I've been photographing for the past few weeks. Now the whole plant's turning yellow.
Still quite impressive, methinks....
Column
Kittens
I shot this photo through the railing on our porch, which accounts for the odd framing. I used that framing as an excuse to play with the processing a bit.
Finch on Pedestal Feeder
Playing again with my new Nikon 1 V2.
The learning curve for this camera (I'm moving from a V1) is mostly finding the repositioned controls. Joan, who's moving to a V2 from a J1, is reporting more difficulty.
