Richard and I are spending the weekend in Toronto. We escaped from the convention for a few minutes, and I found these neat flowers on an unexpected balcony.

Old CN roundhouse, with coaling and water tower ruins, Toronto. The Canadian National Railway used to have an enormous rail yard near downtown Toronto, which is marked by the CN Tower and partly occupied now by the SkyDome (Rogers Centre). This roundhouse, and a much smaller yard, are all that remain. You can see Lake Ontario in the background. The picture's a little noisy largely because I shot it through a window. Every year's convention of the Society for American Baseball Research is scheduled to include a major league game. This year's game saw the Blue Jays host the Yankees at Rogers Centre. The Yanks won, big.

The Babe was wandering around SkyDome (sorry: Rogers Centre) before the Yanks/Blue Jays game on August 5, 2005. I imagine there's a backstory, but it turns out I don't really care. SABR 35 Convention photo. This photo's also posted on my other (baseball) Flickr .
