The Hoytville Store's Gone Missing!

Hoytville

One story told about Hoytville is that when the Pere Marquette built its railway a mile or so north of town, alarge portion of the residents moved to property adjacent to the rails, founding Mulliken on land previously owned by T. Edgar Potter.

but some stayed behind, and the hamlet never completely died.

The Hoytville Store's Gone Missing!

Hoytville, Michigan. The long-abandoned store seems to have disappeared sometime over the winter. There's absolutely no trace left--not even a foundation.

A Tree in a Field

My self-assigned photographic task this morning was to find an isolated tree. This one will do. It's more or less at Hoytville, Michigan.

While we haven't really had much rain today, the sky's been pretty dramatic.

East from Hoytville

Since the day's stayed persistently foggy, I naturally thought a foggy shot appropriate. Then I consciously made the new photo look old. This farm's about a mile south of my home and the house is usually visible from our yard. Not so much today. I've shown you this place before , but never from this angle.
