Sometime on Thursday Joe Mullins will take a break from music-making to tell the crowd that the hardest-working folks at a bluegrass festival are the members of the sound crew. They're the first to arrive because they need to set up and test their gear; they're the last to leave because they need to coil up the cables, take down the speakers, box stuff up, and load everything into the van. In between they're always on duty. If all goes well, the crowd doesn't notice 'em.
Then he'll call out Jimmy and his assistant, Mike, by name, and invite us to applaud.
Joe's right.
