Mark Sahlgren, long-time host of WMUK's Grassroots weekly radio program, guitarist/lead singer with the Sweetcorn bluegrass band, and retired Kalamazoo teacher, listening at the Charlotte (Michigan) Bluegrass Festival, June 2007.
Last night, at the Coopers Glen Music Festival, I heard Mark introduce local band Heartland, Joel Mabus (also a local, but quite famous nationally), northern Michigan's Detour band, and Tim O'Brien. A wonderful time was had by all....
The festival continues even as I write; today's bands include Shout, Sister, Shout! (highly recommended) and the Grascals. If you're in reach of Kalamazoo's Sheraton, you should find your way there.
