Platanthera chapmanii (Chapman's Fringed orchid)
On August 7, 2014, Matt Richards and I met in southeast Georgia to monitor and study the rare, Platanthera chapmanii or Chapman's Fringed orchid. There are only a handful of populations of this orchid in Georgia, and Matt, who is the Conservation Coordinator at the Atlanta Botanical Garden in Atlanta, has been studying this species and attempting to find new sites for it in Georgia.
