HM Tower of London Liberty Boundary Markers

I suddenly started noticing these markers this year and in my quest to find out what they were came across a fascinating discussion about them in the London at War group It is one of 31 markers that marked the jurisdiction of the Tower of London from the middle ages until the late C19. 22 remain, half in the City of London and half in Tower Hamlets, and are all Grade II listed. Full details can be found on the British Listed Buildings website: City of London markers Tower Hamlets markers No. 7 is in Tower Hamlets. The listing reads: "#7: Painted iron post with rounded top, inscribed '^ W.D. No.7.', at base of wall to nos. 8-10 Tower Hill (Grade II), to left of Tower Hill Terrace steps. Possibly of 1868." Yet another lot of things to track down. Maybe a winter project? Better start a set...
