The station was originally called Strand but renamed Aldwych when Charing Cross station was named Strand. But now that the station is closed the Aldwych sign has been removed...
No digital SLR cameras please

No-one seemed able to explain the reason for this ban and the staff didn't even seem very clear as to what a DSLR actually was!

This platform was not used for train services from about 1914. During WW1it was used as an emergency store for the National Gallery. Note there is no 'suicide pit' beneath the tracks.
