Riot in the operating theatre
"In those days the pupils of St. Thomas's and Guy's had the right of seeing operations at both hospitals. And, to prevent strangers from invading the small theatres, pupils of the sister hospital were provided with tickets establishing their identity. But this custom of showing tickets had lapsed when one fine day in 1825 St. Thomas's decided that only pupils with tickets would be admitted, which resulted in an actual riot in the St. Thomas's hospital theatre. The police were called and six medical students were arrested, thus snapping the last link between St. Thomas's and Guy's."
