I have to be honest... the vehicles are not really suitable for the demands. They have no self-protection and the driver must do everything on his own.... is also due to the costs and the fact that national and international airports have to fulfil different conditions.

I understand what you mean. But they have to be prepared for what they can do. The department here has several trucks and many firefighters--so none of them are alone.

This fire department is also covers the entire airport. So, if a building is on fire they get called. If some one has a heart attack they get the call. They are responsible for much more than just the airplanes!
