Depuis quelques décennies, cet habitat traditionnel est restauré et mieux mis en valeur; souvent transformé en gîte rural. Mais on ne construit plus d'aussi grandes maisons-fermes de nos jours, c'est sûr!

Typique du Haut-Doubs!
Derrière il y AVAIT les vaches et le grand toit servait pour stocker le foin et était accessible par une levée de grange située également derrière cette vaste demeure.
Plus rare en revanche: le premier étage habitable.

After renovation, this old farm will become a holiday cottage.
In the past, the cows had their barn at the back of the building and the hay was stored under the huge roof.
Here, we are in the Jura massif (150 km north of the Alps), not far from the Swiss border. (Cf, geolocation).
(a large part of my family is from this region which I love very much!)
