....The castle is located near the Rhone; at this place, there was a loop in the Middle Ages; and loop is called "cingle" in old French!
(Warning: do not confuse with "cinglé" - with a sharp accent - which means crazy!!!!!!)

I wouldn't dream of mixing "crazy" with "river loop", Nouchet!
River loop: If cut off from the river due to silting and / or sedimentation, then, in English it's called an "oxbow lake".
