Starting over (hopefully) for the last time.
I've moved in with my mother on the land I grew up on. Lots of plans for buildings and the land are in the works.

Our third winter storm in seven days.
This one started as snow and finished as rain.
The icy coating made for a magical wonderland when the sun finally came out.

closed for the season
You know it's coming, but it's always a little depressing when it gets here. Winter is a long, colorless, barren season. I suppose it does help to have a break and plan for the next year, though.

Under the Mulberry Tree
I have quite a little army of spring flowers building up under the mulberry tree. The mulberry leaves don't emerge until nearly June, so it's a perfect spot for my early spring flowers. There are at least six types of daffodils, checkered lilies, squill, hyacinth, Muscari, and tulips. Unfortunately this spring the deer decided most of these plants made for a delightful buffet, so only about half actually bloomed.

winter arrives
I love the view of my "yard"...big changes coming this summer, though. In the distance you can just make out fence posts. I've been working on setting up a track system for my mules. Basically it's an alley around the perimeter of the pasture that is supposed to encourage them to move more. We'll see.

Suddenly, a barn.
It's almost done...almost! Weather and time were not on my side, so the finishing touches will have to wait for spring. BUT. The mules are at their final home ever, they each have a stall, and they've settled in just fine.
