Alcobaça's blue china is a true identity mark of that county, but it has its origins in the so-called “school” of Coimbra, brought to the Alcobaça village by José dos Reis Santos in 1875, following the closing of the Real Fábrica the previous year. Juncal, which supplied the entire region.
